all work and not enough play

I haven't had much time for work on any of my fun projects lately, including making progress on my portable bring your own voice booth (OK, I gave it away). But I did do some stenciling the other weekend and thought you might like to see the results. My basement does not provide for getting a good shot of it from far enough away to actually be able to see it for what it is, but hopefully this gives you an idea.

So what are the plans for this contraption? Harvard Square? Battery Park? The Mall? Can it make music on its own? From what I know of the plans, I am anxious to see it put into action. Tell us, Mr. AE, when can we "bring our own voice"s?

Well, my current plans are to give the booth it's first live test in my home at the end of this month once the soundproofing has been completed. (I'm waiting for various parts to arrive in the mail currently) If the test goes well, I hope to participate in one of the Friday evening art openings they have down in the South End sometime soon. Then everyone can bring their own voices.

That sound installation at the Tate is pretty interesting. It's really hard to tell from a verbal description whether or not it is cool. I can imagine it being pretty neat, but also being totally lame in person. Only one way to find out, I suppose.
Some of these conceptual installations annoy me when the ratio of concept to beauty is too high. That's why I try to rock out with my songs!
