That is gorgeous! And it's so incredibly serene (at least in my opinion), though there is also the sense of great energy -- winds, waves, currents. So much hidden beneath the surface.
Tanja Hollander's images are stunning, and I love how you have melded your words together with this particular image in a way that is so complementary.
Posted by: T at January 26, 2005 03:57 PMI really like the concept cover! Did you crop the image or is that the full picture? The reason I ask, is that you *may* want to experiment with either the ocean or sky taking up 2/3rds of the picture instead of 50/50.
Then again, it does look pretty cool as is. Screw it, I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. ;-)
only minor cropping around the edges (for bleed purposes). this is the way tanja framed the shot and therefore, this is the way it will stay! I actually love how bold she was with this one to not only have it be a square, but to then to divide it almost exactly in half, like you said. it's so mathematical and direct in many ways, but somehow retains true interest and excitement with that lone whitecap.
I love what she is able to do with her photographs and only hope that my minor word additions don't distract from the beauty she creates.
